You can hardly go a day let alone a week before the next iPad 3 news surfaces on the internet, whether it’s a rumor, an insider leak, or some people who are familiar with the situation. The Rumors and news range from analysts reports, to component makers, to supply chain members and even down to employees who “accidentally” leak photos, images and news to the web.
Apple has had tremendous success and pioneered the tablet industry and market as we see it today, and the iPad 3 has been generating hype even before the iPad 2 hit store shelves. It’s no secret that Apple still commands the top majority of the market for tablets, even though their device is rather pricey. The mobile market is even larger, which means the iPhone 5 hype and craziness will be even larger in a short while. While consumers are generally price sensitive, the quality and craftsmanship; and overall feel of an iPad in your hands will quickly make you understand why.
Consumers look to Apple for their devices for the same reason that people buy BMWs or Mercedes’; not only because they have the money to do so, but because it’s the luxury, quality, and overall image the tablet provides its owner; that personal satisfaction. To add to that, you better believe that Apple is working tirelessly to bring a revolutionary refreshed tablet to the table, and recent reports suggest that it will indeed be called the Apple iPad 3, based on iOS 5 developers code referencing the tablet under those strings.
The iPad 3 is expected to get a number of different upgrades once it launches during the first half of 2012, and news has been anything but scarce regarding those details all year. Fans are expecting much more out of the iPad 3 refresh because the iPad 2 wasn’t a truly justifiable upgrade for those who already owned an original iPad.
Sure it was the perfect device for those who were new to the tablet world, offering a better processor, thinner design, cameras, all with the same battery life; but the conservative bunch and those who had an iPad already have been waiting for the iPad 3. After reports all over the internet and buzz about the specs and design, many have decided that the iPad 3 is definitely worth the wait.
The Apple iPad 3 tablet is expected to receive an A6 processor that could indeed be quad-core, sport a retina display that will totally dominate anything else in the entire market, get some upgraded cameras with an LED flash, and apparently have new battery technology that is going to be able to still offer proper battery life with the boosted specs. Those specs alone are something to get really excited about, but obviously nothing is confirmed by the Cupertino tech giant as of yet.
The iPad 3 is expected to see a release date of sometime in March, despite its constant rumors of a summer 2011 release before the holidays, and then rumors that it would be delayed into late 2012; however most of those rumors have fizzled out. Right now you should still count on the tablet finding its way into consumer’s hands on the normal traditional cycle for Apple, which would be Q1. Earlier this year the iPad 2 hit shelves in March, which could put the iPad 3 on track to release a year later and land sometime in March of next year as well.
For now all you can do is wait, and snatch up any juicy rumor or news snippet that is floating around the web. Apple is traditionally very secretive on their devices, their specs and their releases until they are good and ready to let people know. The iPad 3 will likely be unveiled and then in a short time after that, be available for purchase. The tablet’s components are already being manufactured at its plants like Foxconn, LG, Samsung, and the many more business partners who make the final device possible. It is expected that in the first month of the year and into February that the tablet will undergo full-scale production as Apple scales back iPad 2 production. The iPad 3 will then be the focal point and dominate the production factories to meet the incredible demand that it will generate.

Apple wants to make sure that they don’t run into the same problem that they did last year with backorders and other sourcing fiascos; because less tablets being sold, means less money for the company. Learning from past mistakes, Apple has invested in more sourcing partners and facilities to manufacture their devices and the iPad 3 supply will be more adequate as consumers wait hours just to be the first ones to get their hands on the coveted tablet.

It’s the burning and itching question, that sense of if I only knew the answer then I could plan my technology purchases accordingly. “When is the iPad 3 release date and what is in store for the refreshed tablet?” Apple leaves its fans in the dark until they are truly ready to lift the covers on any upcoming device, and that doesn’t always sit well with a lot of impatient folks.
It’s likely that Apple was working on the iPad 3 all the way back before the iPad 2 was even released, and this is rather normal. The iPad 2 was lacking a lot of features that fans wanted due to some constraints with time, pricing, sourcing agents and production schedules. The tablet may not even be called the iPad 3 and could be called the iPad HD, as many were shook after the iPhone 5 release date was pushed back and wasn’t released and it was actually the iPhone 4S. This has led industry insiders to claim that the iPad 3 is getting the majority of the upgrades that were scrapped at the last minute for the iPad 2.
The iPad 3 release date will conservatively be released sometime in Q1 of 2012 since the iPad 2 came out in March of 2011; with much success I might add. Despite heavy backorders, lack of supply and not that much upgraded, it still is by far the trend-setter and most bought tablet when looking at raw data on sales and customer satisfaction. The only thing we can do now is hope that if Apple is indeed looking to release it come March of next year, that they have worked out all the bugs, and tucked all the upgrades that fans want into the next-gen tablet; the Apple iPad 3.
Analysts and other individuals have recently been speculating that Apple is going to have a harder time in 2012 with so much innovation and competition creeping and catching up to the device mastermind. It’s a huge advantage to be the first one on the scene for early adopters and to set the standard and that’s exactly what happened in the tablet market. Apple was the first one to create a hyped tablet, and many naysayers didn’t believe there was a place for a tablet; or that it would sell like it did.
As you can see this has left other big time companies scrambling to catch up to Apple, and finding it extremely hard to compete, as Apple holds somewhere to the tune of 90% of the market share currently. Because competitors are working tirelessly to bring something that is cutting edge, cost effective and a direct threat to the iPad, it’s important that Apple understands the need to make the iPad 3 release date early in 2012, so that it can set the standard early.
The iPad 3 being released in February or March of the new year makes the most sense, and should propel it to the top once owners of the original iPad are looking to make the move and upgrade. That is of course if it tucks in the aforementioned specs and rumors for design, but I think that Siri alone would make it quite an attractive device. You should expect the iPad 3 to be priced relatively similar to its current price tiers for the iPad 2, although this time around we should be in store for some long-overdue upgrades like a retina display.
The internet will always be commonplace for iPad 3 rumors to surface as the hype builds in anticipation for the tablets release; and fans are on the edge of their seats swallowing up any news snippet possible. Whether they’re clamoring for a USB port (which will likely not happen), or wanting more battery life out of the sleek device, fans and Apple lovers take to the internet to voice their opinions whether positive or negative.
In the past it was always a gripe that tech giant Apple, wouldn’t offer flash support on their devices. If you read the news quite frequently however, then you’d know that Apple has sort of laughed this one off as Adobe recently announced the phasing out of flash altogether in the mobile world. This has led some to believe that Steve Jobs was right all along (god rest his soul). HTML 5 is the wave of the future, and will replace flash across all mobile platforms; leading fans to complain about other issues rather than his long-standing issue.

Now that you know that the iPad 3 certainly won’t have Flash incorporated, there are a few rumors that suggest it could get a thunderbolt port, come pre-loaded with iOS 5 and Siri, and even undergo a bit of aesthetic tweaking. The incorporated Siri voice technology into the iPhone 4S by the company showed that it was quite a milestone and selling point for the iPhone, even though the rest of the phone didn’t change all that much. Consumers were still eagerly willing to upgrade, and Siri has been quite revolutionary in the world of searching.
This brings us back to the iPad 3 and how beneficial Siri technology could actually be. The voice command program is arguably more suited for a device like the iPad, which could take it to a whole new level as far as typing and overall usability go for the user experience in general. At this point I think a lot of the iPad 3 rumors are to be believed, especially Siri; given its popularity thus far.
Transitioning over to another Apple rumor is the fact that they will try to introduce an iPad mini, or a competing 7-inch tablet that would look to put pressure on highly adopted budget tablets like the Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet that are quickly gaining some traction against Apple in the tablet industry. Steve Jobs did however believe that there was no place for a smaller tablet and that the 9.7” form factor was the most ideal thing out there. Without Jobs on the scene now however, Tim Cook may indeed look to go after this hot trend, and in a budget friendly way.
For the time being, the focus will be on the upcoming iPad 3 rather than the iPhone 5, or imaginary (at this time) iPad mini. The Apple iPad 3 is rumored to be one svelte device if all the specs that have been proposed do indeed make it into the final product. Once you sift through all the iPad 3 rumors and portion out the fiction from somewhat fact, you will see that if Apple can deliver on a few milestones, that the iPad 3 will once again be the trend-setter and the overall tablet to beat as we soon roll into the year of 2012.
What are the upcoming iPad 3 specs and how is Apple going to be the game-changer once again in a market that is quickly becoming overpopulated? Well that’s just it, while the market is saturated with tablets; it’s saturated with ill-performing tablets trying to compete with the iPad. This can be evidenced by the failures of the HP TouchPad and the Blackberry PlayBook; which are clearly not just some run of the mill low budget company. These are mutli-billion dollar companies that are extremely well known, yet cannot steal any market share from Apple’s legendary device; and that’s not the Apple fan-boy in me talking either, that’s just cold hard facts at the moment.
Apple according to rumors and industry source information has a plethora of goodies lined up for the iPad 3 which we should see unveiled sometime at the beginning of 2012. The iPad 3 specs are going to apparently bring an A6 processor tucked conveniently underneath that other rumored spec, the Retina Display. Apple has pioneered the retina display and it got its name because of the high PPI it provides, and pixilation which is undetectable by the average human eye. If Apple can successfully merge a Retina Display into the iPad 3 we will see something truly revolutionary. This screen running at the proposed double resolution will be the most stunning and best display in the world, making a nice selling point for Apple.
It doesn’t stop there either, because according to a report released earlier this year, Apple has been investing in battery development and researching quite extensively as they look to get more battery life out of an even thinner cell. While 10 hours which currently is afforded to iPad 2 owners is pretty awesome, fans and tech companies are increasingly looking to push the barriers further; and for good reason. Apple wouldn’t want to go backwards in battery life or in any spec, as that just isn’t the norm, nor does it sit well with consumers. That would be like releasing an original product at 1” of thickness and then releasing next year’s refresh at 1.5 inches; just a dead no, no.
These rumored and speculated iPad 3 specs aren’t the end either, there has been past talk about a carbon fiber casing that is lighter yet stronger, and new and improved cameras that will sport an LED flash to make picture quality exceedingly better along with the proposed 1080P video recording. Snapping photos and recording videos or engaging in face-time chat with the loved ones could get a whole lot better if all of these tips are to be believed.

It’s hard to know what iPad 3 spec Apple fans are expecting the most, however I think at the top of their lists would indeed be a quad-core A6 processor, Siri technology, and the beloved Retina Display. While it’s personal preference what matters the most, it’s a clear indication that consumers buy based on the specs, secondly after looking at the price tag. More power, a better display and some cool voice command technology will always please the majority of the masses.
